Cable network Lifetime has picked up rights to the reruns of "Medium,"
beginning in 2009.
Lifetime is paying an estimated $1.2 million per episode for rights to
the Paramount-produced drama which NBC currently airs on Monday nights.
While that figure is well below the record $2 million plus per episode
paid by Spike TV for reruns of "CSI," it was a substantial enough
amount to keep Paramount from also offering a weekend window of rights
to broadcast TV stations. That weekend package is an increasingly common
deal, and one that likely would have been a lucrative one for the Patricia
Arquette drama.
This deal is one of the first announced by Lifetime's new entertainment
president Susanne Daniels, who told the Hollywood Reporter that "We
think this smart and absorbing drama depicting a woman in all of the complexity
of her life, juggling a normal family with an extremely unusual line of
work, will resonate strongly with our audience and make an outstanding
addition to our schedule." |
