It's hard to believe that it's been nearly eight years since Kathie Lee
Gifford left her long-running gig on "Live With Regis And Kathie
Lee." For fans, that's been way too long without a shot of vitamin
Kathie Lee. For myself, it's what I prefer to call the "Golden Age
Of Television."
There are a lot of reasons to find Kathie Lee Gifford annoying. But for
me, it's always been her non-stop dropping of her kids names into every
conversation that last longer than a couple of minutes. Cody Gifford is
probably as familiar name to many people as is the name of his father
Frank. And dad had a long-running career in sports (and broadcasting).
So the question is...will Kathie Lee be able to resist the urge to mention
her family's name at every available opportunity during her new "Today
Show" co-hosting job?
I've always believed that if you're forced to undergo some pain, you should
be rewarded for the effort. So in the spirit of giving (and unrepentant
snarkiness), AllYourTV.com is going to be rewarding our fine readers every
time Kathie Lee Gifford mentions a member of her family by name while
on the air at her new job.
The rules are simple. Every time that Kathie Lee Gifford mentions the
name "Cody" during the fourth hour of "The Today Show,"
we'll be giving away a $25 gift card to Amazon.com. A mention of daughter
Cassidy (the forgotten Gifford) will win someone a $10 Amazon gift card.
And a mention by name of her husband Frank will win one lucky viewer a
slightly used hardback copy of the 1995 Frank Gifford-penned book "Whole
Ten Yards."
To enter the contest, send an email with your name, address and the name
Kathie Lee uttered on the air to the email address kathieleecontest@allyourtv.com.
One winner for each name mentioned will be randomly chosen from all the
entries received by midnight ET the day the mention was made. The contest
will run through the month of April, so there will no doubt be many chances
to win!
