John Hodges

Haven, Connecticut)
Occupation: Graduate Student in Public Health
Bio:
Originally born in Athens, Greece, John Hodges came to the United
States when he was 9 years old. After getting his undergraduate
degree from University of Rochester in upstate New York, where
he double-majored in religion and biology, John went on to receive
his Masters in Public Health from Yale University School of Public
Health in 2001. During his graduate studies at Yale, John also
worked as a research fellow in Durban, South Africa, where he
studied resiliency in AIDS orphans and researched HIV policy issues.
Involved in
the sport of rowing since entering college, John has been an assistant
coach for the Yale Men’s Lightweight Crew Team (2000 National
Champions) in New Haven, Connecticut since 1999. Last year, his
freshman crew had an undefeated season and went on to capture
the silver medal at the 2001 Ivy League Championship Regatta.
John describes
himself as empathetic, spontaneous and determined and enjoys spending
his free time climbing with friends. He credits his parents, relatives
and heritage for having instilled in him a hard work ethic.
