All Hail 'Brooklyn Girls,' The Perfect Summer 2014 Song

Every summer there seem to be one or two songs that break out big to become the perfect soundtrack for the year. It's not scientific, but it's always a song that manages to be just the piece of ear candy we all want to listen to while hanging out at the beach or sing along with in a car packed with friends.

There have been a lot of great candidates this year, but it's hard to imagine a more worthy song than Catey Shaw's "Brooklyn Girls."

The sardonic piece of ear candy skewers the prototypical gentrified Brooklyn Girl, who says she's "street" because she's got some piercings and wears combat boots in the summer.

While it's a painfully accurate take on that crowd, it can also apply to a dozen other places in the country where gritty hipsters are known to run free in the wild.

Vice already hates it, and given the percentage of insufferable hipsters working there, I'd consider that to be a ringing endorsement for the best song Katy Perry never recorded.
