Formula 1 Update On The Revised 2020 Calendar

Following the announcement of the first ten races of the revised 2020 calendar, Formula 1 is today announcing the next three races in the schedule, bringing the current total to thirteen. We are also providing an update on wider plans for the season. As stated previously, we expect the revised 2020 season to have between 15 and 18 races and end in the Gulf in mid-December. We expect to release the final details of the calendar in the coming weeks.

We can confirm that Portimão, Imola and Nürburgring will each host Grands Prix this October. We are excited to welcome Portimão as a completely new circuit to the Formula 1 season as well as welcoming back Imola and Nürburgring, circuits that have hosted World Championship races in the past.

After ongoing discussions and close collaboration with our partners we can also confirm that due to the fluid nature of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, local restrictions and the importance of keeping communities and our colleagues safe, it will not be possible to race in Brazil, USA, Mexico and Canada this season.

We want to thank all our existing and new partners and national authorities for their hard work and efforts in recent months. While it is disappointing it is not possible to race in the Americas this year, we look forward to returning next season and know the races on our revised calendar will continue to excite our fans and provide new challenges for the teams and drivers.

The additional three races announced today are as follows:

October 9-11	FORMULA 1 ARAMCO GROSSER PREIS DER EIFEL – Nürburgring
October 23-25	FORMULA 1 HEINEKEN PORTUGUESE GRAND PRIX – Portimão
October 31 – November 1	FORMULA 1 EMIRATES GRAN PREMIO DELL’EMILIA ROMAGNA –  Imola
