Synopsis: Patrick Duffy will host
"A Hero's Welcome." a special honoring everyday Americans who
have performed extraordinary acts.
Duffy, best known for his role as Bobby Ewing on the long-running CBS
primetime series "Dallas," hosts the special in which two remarkable people
are honored for the selfless acts they performed. In both stories, the
moments in which the heroes stepped up and put their own lives on the
line are recreated as they and the survivors tell their stories. Now,
after years of never being able to properly thank their hero, the survivors
plan a special event and are reunited with the person who saved their
lives.
The first story is about Lesli Lancaster, a 15-year-old girl whose
truck went off a cliff in Washington State in 1997. Navy Lieutenant
Matthew Scott climbed down the side of the cliff in total darkness and
swam out into the icy water, saving her life. Now a mother, Lesli wants
to repay Matthew, and with the help of his fiancée, sets out to plan
an emotional reunion.
The second story is about a school shooting in Moses Lake, Wash.,
in 1996. Teacher Jon Lane risked his life to save 16 students when a
student opened fire in another classroom. Now, 10 years later, these
students go to great lengths to show their gratitude as they are reunited
with their teacher who has devoted much of his life to his community.
