Synopsis:
"Big
Shot" is the true story of Benny Silman, an ambitious kid from
Brooklyn, whose flirtation with sportsgambling spiraled out of
control and was the catalyst for one of the most significant sports
briberyconspiracies involving college athletics. Silman was a
campus bookmaker who conspired with one of ASU's star basketball
players to ensure that ASU would not cover the betting line in
four games during the1993-94 season.
A federal
grand jury ultimately indicted Silman and others, accusing them
of sportsbribery, money laundering and racketeering and Silman
received a 46-month prison sentence for his role inthe point shaving
scandal.

Producer, Kevin Messick said, "Point shaving scandals are the
game's worst of crimes and this movie takes an inside look through
the eyes of a campus bookie at the temptations that exist for
both students and players."
