And Specials: Blue Moon
Synopsis:
Cass (Lawrence) and Billy Medieros (Nordling) and their three
children have been happy and relatively carefree living near Cass'
family, the Keatings, in an old Eastern seaboard fishing village.
Cass manages the business end of things, including the restaurant
her father, Jimmy (Kiley), owns on the wharf, and Billy captains
one of the Keating fishing boats. While Cass and Billy are still
the best of friends and as passionate about each other as newlyweds,
a rift has developed between them due to Billy's seeming inability
to deal with their severely hearing impaired 7-year-old daughter,
Josie (Eisenberg).
Everything
seems to be going wrong for Cass, who suspects that her sister's
wealthy new boyfriend is about to buy their restaurant in order
to raze it and build up the wharf. Despite the resistance of her
family and friends, Cass clings stubbornly to the idea of family
traditions and the mythology of "the good old days."
As the family
grapples with internal and external changes, the relationship
between Cass and Billy becomes more strained until Billy almost
loses his life and is miraculously rescued. This wake-up call
to every member of the family reminds Cass and Billy what is most
important to them, their love for one another and for their family.
In this remarkable celebration of love, the sea serves as a metaphor
for the ever changing cycles of family life.
