| Synopsis: Ten years after the fatal
crash that stunned the world, award-winning Dangerous Films presents a
dramatic re-creation of the final days of one of the 20th Century’s greatest
icons.
Compelling interviews – including eye-witnesses speaking on record
for the first time – are blended with full-scale drama to portray a
story of love, deceit, wealth and power.
Summer 1997
One year after her divorce with Prince Charles, Diana is driven by a
renewed desire to fulfill her private hopes and ambitions. Amid the
constant glare of publicity, she is living life to the full – in the
company of Dodi Al Fayed.
From sun-drenched holidays in the Med, to the grandeur and glamour
of Paris, Diana enjoys a new-found sense of control. Yet all the while
she is exposing herself to the whims of her host. Her whirlwind romance
with Dodi takes place in a fabulous world of private jets, multimillion
pound yachts and personal entourages – and all of it belongs to the
Al Fayed family.
Behind the scenes, Dodi’s harassed bodyguards are struggling to keep
up with the ever-changing plans. Worryingly, the paparazzi seem to know
the couple’s every move – it is almost as if there is a mole in the
camp. The newspapers, awash with rumors of engagement rings and pregnancy,
will pay anything for something new about Diana. Photographers know
they can make millions if they get the right picture.
As Diana pursues an elusive sense of freedom, all around her the paparazzi
chase the promise of instant riches. Inevitably events spiral out of
control, as a catalog of rushed decisions made in the heat of the moment
ultimately send Henri Paul, Trevor Rees-Jones, Dodi and Diana on their
fatal dash through the Alma Tunnel.
This film is committed to an honest presentation of the final days
of Diana’s life and the circumstances of her death. The script is based
on the testimony of A-list interviewees, and is supported by the 800-page
Paget report, published in 2006 by the UK’s Metropolitan Police after
a four-year investigation.
Diana fulfils an audience’s need to understand an event that shocked
the world. Since that day, a thousand headlines have blurred the truth.
Our film will bring clarity and closure.
