And Specials: Lilo And Stich-Aloha From Hollywood
Synopsis:
Stunning
Hawaiian landscapes and classic rock 'n' roll set the tone for
a new ABC one-hour special, "Disney's Lilo & Stitch: Aloha from
Hollywood." Hosted by ABC's Daytime darling, Kelly Ripa ("Live
with Regis & Kelly," "All My Children"), the program features
performances, celebrity interviews and other magical components
that pay musical tribute to Disney's delightful new animated film,
"Disney's Lilo & Stitch" (premiering in theatres June 21).
Combining
unforgettable characters, an imaginative and offbeat story and
colorful artistry, Walt Disney Pictures' new animated comedy,
"Lilo & Stitch," tells a captivating tale of a young girl's close
encounter with the galaxy's most mischievous extraterrestrial.
Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly 'dog' whom
she names Stitch. Stitch would be the perfect pet -- if he weren't
in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien
planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith and
unwavering belief in 'ohana (the Hawaiian concept of family),
Lilo helps unlock Stitch's heart and gives him the one thing he
was never designed to have -- the ability to care for someone
else. With its lush tropical setting, unique sense of humor and
classic songs by Elvis Presley, "Lilo & Stitch" promises to capture
imaginations everywhere.
Shot on location
in both Hawaii and Hollywood, this television special will showcase
the dynamic musical landscape of classic Elvis Presley songs from
the film, with performances by Wynonna, Jessica Simpson, Swedish
pop sensation The A*Teens, and a very special appearance by the
Kamehameha Children's Chorus.
Ms. Ripa
will interview top Hollywood celebrities who will provide insight
into the animated film. Hilarious animated clips from the movie
will highlight the filmmakers' inspiration, while conveying the
Hawaiian concept of 'ohana, or "family." Another exciting element
includes surfing lessons from six-time national champion professional
surfer Kelly Slater.
