Synopsis:
The
drama, adapted from the best-selling book by Anita Shreve, an
Oprah Book selection, revolves around a woman who loses her pilot
husband in a plane crash and subsequently discovers that he had
been leading a double life. Campbell Scott ("Hamlet") and John
Heard ("Pollock") also star.
Kathryn Lyons
(Lahti) is suddenly widowed when her husband, Jack (Heard), is
killed in a mysterious plane explosion off the coast of Ireland.
From the moment she learns of Jack's death, Kathryn suspects there
is more to the story than what the key investigator, Robert Hart
(Scott), is telling her. As she pieces together cryptic clues
from her husband's belongings, she slowly uncovers startling revelations
and is led into the secret world her husband kept from her and
their teenage daughter, Mattie (Alison Pill). During the ensuing
investigation, which leads her on a journey to London and Ireland,
Kathryn is forced to confront unfathomable truths about Jack's
duplicitous secret life.
Initially
devastated by his deception and lies, Kathryn ultimately realizes
she must face the truth about who her husband really was in order
to help herself and her daughter find the strength to move on
with their lives.
