REWARDS FIVE NEW SERIES WITH FULL SEASON PICKUPS
NEW YORK, October
30th, 2000--CBS has rewarded five new series from its stellar freshman
class with full-season orders, including the comedies BETTE and
YES, DEAR and the dramas CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION, THE DISTRICT
and THE FUGITIVE.
The full season
commitments to five new series represent the most by any major network
in several years. All five of the new series have increased their
time periods from a year ago in households, viewers and key adult
demographics.
CBS, off to
a strong start in the 2000-01 season, boasts the highest-rated new
drama of the year in CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION and two of the
highest-rated new comedies in YES, DEAR and BETTE.
YES, DEAR (9.6/14,
14.33m viewers), Monday's highest-rated new comedy, has improved
its (8:30-9:00 PM) time period by +17% in households (from 8.2/13),
+32% in adults 25-54 (6.6/15 vs. 5.0/12), +35% in adults 18-49 (5.8/15
vs. 4.3/11) and +45% in adults 18-34 (4.8/14 vs. 3.3/10) compared
to the regularly scheduled time period programming last year.
YES, DEAR is
produced by Twentieth Century Fox Television, in association with
CBS Productions. Alan Kirschenbaum and Greg Garcia are the executive
producers.
BETTE (9.6/14,
13.55m viewers) has won its very competitive Wednesday (8:00-8:30
PM) time period in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 every week since
its premiere despite strong competition from "Who Wants To Be a
Millionaire" and "Titans." BETTE has improved its time period by
+45% in households (from 6.6/11), +103% in adults 25-54 (5.9/16
vs. 2.9/8), +96% in adults 18-49 (4.7/14 vs. 2.4/7) and +88% in
adults 18-34 (3.0/10 vs. 1.6/5) compared to the time period last
year ("Cosby").
BETTE is produced
by All Girl Productions, D. Train Productions, Inc. and CBS Productions,
in association with Columbia TriStar Television. Jeffrey Lane, Bonnie
Bruckheimer, Bette Midler and Andrew D. Weyman are the executive
producers.
THE FUGITIVE
(7.5/14, 10.75m viewers) has improved its Friday (8:00-9:00 PM)
time period by +21% in households (from 6.2/12, 9.08m viewers),
+46% in adults 25-54 (4.1/13 vs. 2.8/9) and +25% in adults 18-49
(3.0/10 vs. 2.4/9) compared to the regularly scheduled time period
programming last year ("Kids Say the Darndest Things"/"Love & Money"
and "Candid Camera").
THE FUGITIVE
is produced by Warner Bros. Television. John McNamara, Arnold Kopelson,
Anne Kopelson, Roy Huggins and R.W. Goodwin are the executive producers.
CSI: CRIME
SCENE INVESTIGATION (10.5/19, 15.56m viewers), the top-rated new
drama of the season, has improved its Friday (9:00-10:00 PM) time
period by +44% in households (from 7.3/13, 11.09m viewers), +43%
in adults 25-54 (6.6/18 vs. 4.6/13), +26% in adults 18-49 (4.9/15
vs. 3.9/12) and +3% in adults 18-34 (3.0/11 vs. 2.9/11) compared
to the time period last year ("Now and Again").
CSI is produced
by CBS Productions, in association with Alliance Atlantis. Jerry
Bruckheimer, Ann Donahue and Carol Mendelsohn are the executive
producers.
THE DISTRICT
(9.2/16, 13.47m viewers) has improved its time period by +10% in
households (from 8.4/16, 12.79m viewers) and +16% in adults 25-54
(5.2/14 vs. 4.5/12) and is even in adults 18-49 (3.7/11) compared
to the time period last year ("Walker").
