OPENS THE GATE FOR THE FIFTH SEASON OF MGM'S STARGATE SG-1
Premiering

New York June
4, 2001 SHOWTIME begins an exciting 5th season of MGM Television
Entertainment's STARGATE SG-1 on Friday, June 29th at 10:00 PM (ET/PT).
Richard Dean Anderson along with Michael Shanks, Amanda Tapping,
Christopher Judge and Don S. Davis comprise the STARGATE SG-1 team.
The series follows
a unique team that includes a Special Operations Colonel, an Archeologist,
an Astrophysicist and an Alien Warrior on their missions through
an ancient 'gate' to new worlds where they encounter fascinating,
but sometimes dangerous cultures.
Known as SG-1,
the team is led by Colonel Jack O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson)
with Daniel Jackson (Michael Shanks), Dr. Samantha Carter (Amanda
Tapping) and Teal'c (Christopher Judge), all of whom work under
the auspices of a covert operation known as "The SGC."
"The SGC" is
a division of Air Force Intelligence that is highly classified --
only the President and the Joint Chiefs know of its existence. After
losing Teal'c to Apophis (from last season's cliffhanger), O'Neill
Carter, Daniel and Jacob (Carmen Argenziano) find themselves aboard
Cronus' badly damaged ship, stranded in a remote part of the galaxy.
Their situation becomes more precarious when Apophis returns to
finish what he's started.
STARGATE SG-1
was developed for television by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner.
The series is executive produced by Brad Wright (SHOWTIME'S "The
Outer Limits"), Richard Dean Anderson and Michael Greenburg.
The season
premiere is titled "Enemies," with the story written by Brad Wright,
Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie, the teleplay by Robert
Cooper and Martin Wood serving as the director.
STARGATE SG-1
is executive produced by Glassner's and Wright's Double Secret Productions
and Michael Greenburg and Richard Dean Anderson's Gekko Film Corp.
