Gregory Harrison Joins Daryl Hannah and Doug Savant in TBS Superstation's "First Target"

Harrison Reprises Presidential Role in Sequel to First Daughter, Basic Cable's Most Popular Movie Ever


May 31st, 2000--Gregory Harrison (First Daughter, Safe Harbour) has signed on to reprise his role as the president of the United States in First Target (working title), TBS Superstation's sequel to the most popular original movie in basic cable history, First Daughter. He joins Daryl Hannah (Blade Runner, Splash) and Doug Savant (First Daughter, Godzilla) for the action-thriller, to be directed by First Daughter helmer Armand Mastroianni. First Targetwill shoot in June in Vancouver and is set to premiere on the Superstation in October 2000.

"Gregory was a key part in First Daughter's enormous success, and we're thrilled he's joining Daryl Hannah and Doug Savant in this terrific project," said Jim Head, senior vice president of original programming for the Superstation.

First Daughter premiered in August 1999 with a 6.9 rating, making it basic cable's highest-rated movie of the year. The movie also drew 5,309,000 households, giving it basic cable's largest movie audience of all time (excluding miniseries).

In First Target, Harrison plays President Jonathan Hayes, who becomes the target of an elaborate assassination plot. Hannah plays Secret Service agent Alex McGregor and Savant plays her beau Grant Coleman, a river guide who helped her save the president's daughter from harm in the first film. Now they must re-team to save the president.

Harrison is best known to TV fans as "Gonzo" Gates on the long-running series Trapper John, M.D. His other series credits include Logan's Run, Falcon Crest and last year's Safe Harbour. Harrison's television movies include "Breaking the Silence," "Enola Gay" and "Au Pair," as well as the miniseries Centennial. His feature films include "It's My Party" and "Air Bud II: Golden Receiver."

Hannah's impressive feature career has included starring roles in such films as "Blade Runner," "Splash," "The Pope of Greenwich Village," "Legal Eagles," "Roxanne," "Wall Street," "Steel Magnolias," "At Play in the Fields of the Lord," "Grumpy Old Men," "The Real Blonde" and "My Favorite Martian." This year, she can be seen in the movies "Dancing at the Blue Iguana" and "Cord." Hannah's television credits include starring roles in the remake of Rear Window, the mini-series The Last Don and the campy comedy Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman.

In addition to starring in TBS Superstation's blockbuster original movie First Daughter, Savant co-starred in the special-effects extravaganza "Godzilla" with Matthew Broderick and Hank Azaria. His other film credits include the independent productions "Shaking the Tre"e and "Red Surf," the thriller "Masquerade," the POW drama "The Hanoi Hilton" and the horror film "Trick Or Treat." This year, he will be seen in the movies "Dropping Out" and "Brooklyn Sonnet." On television, Savant played Matt Fielding on Melrose Place for five years and has also starred in a number of made-for-television movies, including Makeover, Robin Cook's Terminal, Fighting Back, Bonnie & Clyde: The True Story and Aftermath.

First Target is being executive-produced by Tom Patricia, with Jason Hervey and David Salzberg serving as co-executive producers. Chad and Carey Hayes, who also wrote First Daughter, are scripting. It is produced by Mandalay Sports Action Entertainment in association with Lions Gate Television and distributed by Columbia TriStar Television.
