Synopsis: John Wells, the creative force behind
"ER" and "The West Wing," collaborates for the first time since "ER"
with writer Lydia Woodward and director Christopher Chulack on CITIZEN
BAINES, a drama about a prominent three-term United States senator who
returns to his Seattle home following the shock of losing his bid for
reelection.
Although he is completely unfamiliar with the world beyond
politics, Elliott Baines must leave Capitol Hill and return home to
start living the next chapter in his now uncertain life. Joining him
are his three adult daughters, who are often at odds not only with their
father but also with each other. Ellen, the eldest daughter, is a lawyer
considering a move into the political arena; Reeva is a busy mother
of two, with problems at home, and Dori is a young woman still trying
to find her niche in life. Caught up in their own lives and used to
living them without their father's presence, the three don't know what
to expect from his return -- and neither does Elliott.

Ellen and Dori join Elliott
on his trip to Washington to receive the medal -- and to lobby for the
position of Secretary of Commerce. Upon their arrival, they are greeted
by Glenn, a real-estate agent and D.C. socialite who hopes to get the
listing on Elliotts Virginia home. Elliott gets a second surprise
when Reeva, who initially chose not to join her father and sisters,
shows up for his award ceremony. Meanwhile, as Elliott begins to realize
that his Washington career is over, Ellen is approached to run for office
and ultimately realizes that this is truly what she wants.
