Synopsis: Golden Globe Award-winner Jenna Elfman and Golden Globe Award-nominee Thomas Gibson return for a fifth season in the romantic half-hour comedy, "Dharma & Greg." A hit since its first season, the series celebrates the power of love and family to overcome the obstacles in a union of opposites. Elfman stars as Dharma Freedom Finkelstein-Montgomery, a free-spirited yoga instructor with an incredible knack for looking on the bright side. Raised by hippie parents, she was taught to shun convention, trust her wildest instincts and find the joy in everyday life. Gibson plays Greg Montgomery, a conservative, Harvard-educated attorney and the yin to Dharmas yang. Married on their first date, they have remained committed to each other from day one, despite the obstacles presented by the world around them. Among those obstacles are Dharmas counter-culture parents, Abby (Mimi Kennedy) and Larry (Alan Rachins), who recently brought another bohemian bundle of joy -- baby Harry -- into the world. On the other side, literally, are Gregs uptight, blue-blood parents, Kitty (Golden Globe Award-nominee Susan Sullivan) and Edward (Mitchell Ryan), whove slowly but surely come to accept the fact that their son married outside the country club boundaries. This season picks up where the last one left off, with Abby, Larry, Kitty and Edward on their way to the hospital following the news of Dharma & Gregs car crash. While the accident left Dharma with a fractured hip and temporarily confined to a wheelchair, her buoyant spirit came through unscathed. Greg, who fared better, is given the fitting task of maintaining a "structured" approach to Dharmas recovery. Unfortunately for Dharma, Gregs approach doesnt allow for skipping physical therapy appointments in favor of wheelchair-tongue-depressor relay races down the hospital halls. Along the road to recovery, Dharma and Greg are reminded of just how much they depend on each others strengths to overcome their own weaknesses. Dharmas unbridled enthusiasm, openness and compassion for all living things helps Greg see the world from a different point of view. Greg, on the other hand, has opened Dharmas eyes to conventional wisdom and provided stability and structure in her life. Now, more than ever, he is her rock.
