Synopsis:
Ellen
DeGeneres plays a high-powered Internet executive who decides to
trade the stresses of her fast-track, big-city lifestyle for the
slower pace of her quieter hometown, where she is known and loved.
It remains to be seen, however, whether or not returning to this
fishbowl of a place and her eccentric mother, Dot, and scatter-brained
sister, Catherine, is the best course of action. At home, Ellen
becomes reacquainted with her senior prom date, Rusty, who thinks
they can pick up where they left off, and her befuddled high school
teacher, Mr. Munn. Though worlds apart from the people who love
her, Ellen begins to adjust to a very different way of life.

1-2 The New
Gun In Town--10/05/2001
When Ellen discovers that a new restaurant by the name of P.J. Knockers
is opening in Clark, she plans a protest to object to its demeaning
treatment of women. Exasperated by the scantily clad waitresses
and the fact that the chain restaurant is taking business away from
Clark's mom and pop stores, Ellen is relentless in getting her family
and friends to protest the restaurant's opening. But, rather than
rallying the troops, Ellen seems to be drumming up business for
the new food establishment instead.
1-3 --10/12/2001
1-4 The Move--10/19/2001
Catherine feels threatened when she sees how close Ellen and Dot
have gotten now that Ellen has moved back home. When Ellen's furnishings
arrive from L.A., Dot is so impressed with all of her fancy gadgets
and high-style décor, that Catherine is left to wonder what place
she will have in her mother's heart -- and her home -- now that
Ellen has become the "number one" daughter. So, Catherine makes
up a situation that she knows will attract their attention.
1- Merry
Christmess--10/19/2001
Ellen
decides to surprise her mom, Dot, by inviting Dot's sister, Mary,
for the holidays -- but the surprise is on Ellen when the family
reunion is anything but pleasant. It's evident upon Mary's arrival
that Dot is envious of her sister's success, worldliness and influence
over Ellen. So, in order to prove that she can be as good a role
model to her daughters as Mary, Dot takes a job at the local mall.
Meanwhile, Rusty takes his job playing "Santa" a little too seriously.
