Synopsis:
"'Fear Factor is about ordinary people in extraordinary
situations," says executive producer Matt Kunitz. "The audience
will experience the thrills and emotions, along with our contestants,
as they challenge and possibly conquer their fears."
Hosted by Joe Rogan (NewsRadio),
NBCs newest alternative series pits real people against each other,
extreme challenges -- and themselves -- in the hope of taking home a
cash prize of up to $50,000 at the end of each one hour, primetime episode.
In each pulse-racing "Fear Factor" episode, six contestants
(three women and three men) recruited from across the nation must decide
if they have the guts and determination to face their most primal fears.
Under the supervision of professional Hollywood stunt coordinators,
contestants are confronted with a series of challenging stunts. The
stunts they are asked to perform range from: leaping from one moving
semi-truck to another; to facing the challenge of having to lie still
while covered in live snakes; to walking across a six-and-one-half inch-wide
beam suspended more than 100 feet in the air.
If they complete their task they advance; if fear stops them from completing
a stunt or they fail the mission, they are immediately eliminated. The
contestant who wins the final challenge takes home the grand prize of
$50,000.
