Synopsis:
From
commitment phobics to blissful newlyweds to wedlock veterans,
"For Your Love" depicts love in all of its romantic, challenging
and chaotically hilarious stages. Now in its fifth season, this
sophisticated romantic comedy series was created and is executive
produced by Yvette Lee Bowser, former executive producer and creator
of Living Single.
Set in the
Chicago suburb of Oak Park, Ill., "For Your Love" follows couples
bound by friendship and family as they traverse the many phases
of life and love in all their glorious complications. Celebrating
the humor in the lifelong tug of war between every twosome, the
series stars Holly Robinson Peete (Hangin’
with Mr. Cooper, 21
Jump Street), James Lesure ("Crimson Tide"), Dedee Pfeiffer
(Cybill), Tamala Jones
("The Brothers") and D.W. Moffett (Chicago
Sons, "Traffic").
While adjusting
to married life, Mel (Lesure) and Malena (Robinson Peete) Ellis
exercise strong wills and a fiery passion for each other as they
learn the hard lesson that the early years may just be the toughest.
Following the arrival of their baby son last season, the couple
realizes that parenthood is a full time job. As Malena attempts
to balance her career with motherhood, Mel continues to build
his new law firm and taking on bigger clients.
Their close
friends and next-door neighbors, Sheri (Pfeiffer) and Dean (Moffett)
Winston, are former high school sweethearts and thought they were
destined soul mates. The couple is going through a rocky patch
and have decided to separate after seven years of marriage. This
season, they work hard at reconciling their differences after
experiencing life again in the single world.
Mel’s younger
and slightly immature brother Reggie (Edafe Okurume) finally found
the confidence to take his relationship with girlfriend Bobbi
Seawright (Jones) to the next level. Unfortunately, after only
a few months of supposed marital bliss, Reggie starts to question
the state of his union and his professional aspirations. His decision
to follow his dream of opening a restaurant leads to a painful
parting, leaving Bobbi to wonder what her new future without Reggie
will hold. (courtesy TheWB)

Airdates:
For Your Love premiered in the spring of 1998 on NBC. Seven
episodes were aired, then the show was placed into hiatus. The
remaining five episodes were to be aired that summer. NBC oiffered
to pick up the show for the next season as a midseason replacement
if Yvette Lee Bowser agreed to a cost-sharing and ownership proposal--
in which NBC would share the cost of producing For Your Love...
but own part of it at the same time sharing in the profits. This
proposal was rejected and NBC didn't pick it up for the '98-'99
season.
However, the
associate production company, Warner Bros., had it's own television
network as well. For Your Love began airing Thursdays on the WB
as part of a block of black, "urban" sitcoms. The show
then moved to Sundays.
