Synopsis:
A pioneer in the re-invention of the legal ensemble drama, David
E. Kelley, the Emmy, Golden Globe and Peabody Award-winning writer/producer,
now infiltrates the "old boys club" with girls club. This one-hour
series focuses on the lives of three young, female attorneys,
each determined to make her mark on the judicial system. With
the vibrant and romantic city of San Francisco as its backdrop,
girls club explores the personal and professional relationships
of these women who share the desire to achieve success and fulfillment
in their lives…despite being employed by a male-dominated firm,
in a male-dominated career.
Best friends and roommates since law school, LYNNE CAMDEN (Gretchen
Mol, "Sweet and Lowdown"), JEANNIE FALLS (Kathleen Robertson,
"I Am Sam," "Beverly Hills, 90210") and SARAH MICKLE (Chyler Leigh,
"That '80s Show") are bright, focused and intelligent twenty-somethings
who are learning rather quickly that in the world of law, truth
does not always prevail and morals and standards do not go hand
in hand.
Strong
and poised, Lynne is challenged by her inexperience; straight-shooter
Sarah's outspokenness may cost her respect; and sassy, optimistic
Jeannie realizes that her beauty may be more valued than her intellect.
This trio is overseen by formidable, no-nonsense senior partner
NICHOLAS HAHN (Giancarlo Esposito, "Ali"), who is never one to
mince words and feels that criticism is as routine as a morning
latte. Limited in doling out praise, Hahn pushes for results,
because he knows a keeper when he sees one.
In
their Victorian loft, set in the trendy North Beach neighborhood
of San Francisco, the girls look to each other for comfort and
counsel - both in and out of the courtroom - as they learn the
consequences of trying to crack open the door of the "old boys
club."
