Show Guide: Lost In The USA

Posted Monday, May 15th, 2001

Synopsis:From the creators of MTV’s hit series "The Real World" comes a new reality-based game show that hits the open road. Each week, four teams will run a grueling 48-hour gauntlet of tests, tasks and time trials that could take them anywhere in the U.S.A.

Supplied with RV’s yet deprived of any funds, the teams must rely on cooperation, creativity and quick thinking to garner points as they race to complete "scavenger hunt" type missions. Sometimes dangerous, often embarrassing, these tests capture the flavor of a region—like bungee jumping off Seattle’s space needle or getting a snapshot of the team stark naked with inhabitants of a nudist colony.

Via the internet and telephone, viewers will collaborate and conspire with the players in real time, and at the end of each show, members of the two teams that were the last to cross the finish line have a chance to plead their case before one team is voted out. Each week, the top team collects its prizes (like SUV's or trips around the world), and a new local team replaces the losers. On every mysterious leg of this never-ending cross-country trek, adventure is calling.

Mary-Ellis Bunim, John Murray ("The Real World," "Road Rules") and Rick de Oliveira serve as executive producers for Artists Television Group and Bunim-Murray Productions.
