Show Guide: Philly Heat

Synopsis:
"Philly Heat" was filmed for ABC in 1993-94 and it aired as a three-part mini-series during the Summer of 1994. Filmmakers rode along with Philadelphia's real Engine 50 and onboard a second mock Engine 50, manned by actors and firefighter-actors from IAFF Local 22. They actually worked the fires and footage of them operating on the fire ground and other emergencies was filmed. During time between alarms, response scenes aboard the apparatus, drive by shots, etc., were filmed along with many close-ups of the principals in action. Then, the footage was processed and printed, then given to the writing staff, which developed dialog script and stories around these incidents. In the Fall, dialog was filmed on a sound stage that was built in a warehouse along the Delaware River. In PHILLY HEAT, the already filmed file incident drove the dialog and storyline.

Peter Boyle played the cigar stoking Battalion Chief. Boyle drove a Suburban that was done up in Philly FD colors. Julianne Margulies, played a firefighter/medic assigned to Rescue-50.
