| Synopsis: 'Remaking' takes slightly
faded, popular musicians from the past and rebuilds, remodels, and re-invents
them. We re-envision the artist we once loved so much so, that he or she
can shine for us once again. Sometimes comic, sometimes profound, 'Remaking' is ultimately a moving journey to re-instate our formerly popular artist as an enduring icon not only for today, but for the future. Regardless of how painful, ugly, or dramatic this journey may sometimes get, 'Remaking' returns a selected musician to their rightful throne as a respected artist. Production Credits: The Episodes 1-1 Remaking Vince Neil The Remaking of Vince Neil begins at a dingy club, in a strip mall in Minnesota, where Vince is performing solo to a small, aging, but loyal audience. The former frontman from Mötley Crüe has become significantly overweight, has maintained an escalating drinking habit, and is struggling to come up with new music to keep his sound current. Vince Neil is presented with the opportunity to remake himself in preparation for one ultimate goal: a grand finale concert that could re-launch his career. Over the next few months, Vince Neil will face his issues, battle his demons and will be tested on every level. Visiting a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon could wash away years of wear and tear. A personal trainer seeks to correct Vince's bad habits and help him lose those extra pounds. Fabulous stylists direct Vince toward the proper threads and a more contemporary hair-style. Recording a new song with a legendary music producer could prove to be a hit or a flop. A brand-new Vince Neil is within reach, but will Vince accept the challenge? No matter how much he trips and falls, whether he succeeds or fails, the experiences Vince encounters along the way will build the person he will become. See what happens when a dedicated and driven team of professionals joins forces, in an attempt to re-launch, rejuvenate, re-master and remake Vince Neil. 1-2 Remaking Taylor Dayne The Remaking of Taylor Dayne begins in Orlando, Florida, at Disneyworld, where Taylor is performing three shows a night for a week. It's clear from her lackluster performance that this is not where she wants to be performing. And the audience, which is made up of families, older fans and passersby, are similarly unenthusiastic. Time has brought with it several significant changes for the late 80s dance-pop diva. Now just past 40, Taylor recently became a single mother of twins, does not have a record deal and is struggling to create a new sound that is more current than her 80s hits. She has taken good care of herself for a woman in her early 40s, but clearly needs a style refresher for the 2000s. Taylor expresses the difficulties in trying to get a top ten hit in a time when the airwaves are dominated by a new, select generation of young pop stars. Taylor has the support of her family and her friends, and one in particular is Leah Remini (actress, star of CBS' The King of Queens), who encourages Taylor to undertake the remaking challenge. Taylor Dayne decides to take advantage of the opportunity to remake herself. Her ultimate goals are to record a new single that could get her back on the charts and to use her comeback performance on ABC's hit talk show, 'The View,' to help re-launch her career. Over the next few months, Taylor Dayne will face her fears, struggle to balance family and work and will be tested on every level. Taylor claims to be game for the entire process but is resistant to a visit with a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon. Two of Hollywood's hottest trainers challenge Taylor by putting her through the ringer in a specially designed boot camp. A-list stylists work to update Taylor's performance outfits and push to give her look a modern twist despite Taylor's reluctance. For Taylor, the process would be a failure without a great song. Taylor has to put faith in the mega-hit producer, Rodney Jerkins, who has created hits for powerhouses Destiny's Child and J-Lo, to create a sound that can compete in the current market and utilized Taylor's vocal strengths. And although Taylor says she's a singer first and a dancer second, she has to learn a new routine from A-List choreographer, Brian Friedman, that will give her an edge. A fresh look and sound for Taylor is on the horizon, but can she withstand the pressure of putting it all together and the critiques of experts and friends? No matter how much she resists change, and whether she succeeds or fails, the experiences Taylor encounters along the way will help build the person she will become. See what happens when a dedicated and driven team of professionals joins forces, in an attempt to re-launch, rejuvenate, re-master and remake Taylor Dayne. 1-3 Remaking Vanilla Ice-05/01/2005 The remaking of Rob Van Winkle, better known as Vanilla Ice, begins on a soggy field in rural Ohio where Ice and his band are a supporting act at a music festival. The once multi-platinum superstar who sold out stadiums and inspired fashion trends is now stuck in a rap-rock rut, forever in the shadow of his one chart topping hit, "Ice, Ice Baby." Vanilla Ice is presented with the opportunity to remake himself in preparation for one ultimate goal: a comeback performance concert that could re-launch his career. Over the next few months, Vanilla Ice will face his issues, battle his demons and be tested on every level. He'll be thrown into the boxing ring with a professional trainer; face the scissors of a cutting-edge Hollywood hair stylist, engage in a battle of wills with some sassy fashionistas; and mix-it up, St. Louis style, with a successful hip-hop producing team. A brand new Vanilla Ice is within reach, but will Ice accept the challenge? See what happens when a dedicated and driven team of professionals joins forces in an attempt to re-launch, rejuvenate, re-master and remake Vanilla Ice. |
