Disney Pulls 'Prep & Landing 2' From Amazon, Just In Time For Christmas

Consumers tend to forget that one of the major disadvantages of buying media in a digital format - especially if you're streaming the media - is much different than purchasing it on a physical format such as a DVD. Digital files can come with digital rights management that can limit where or when or how you can watch the media. Even worse, the copyright holder often has the ability to pull the title from distribution, even of you've paid for it.

Unlikely Amazon customers who purchased "Prep & Landing 2" have recently discovered that Disney has pulled the title from distribution, apparently to maximize the audience for an airing of the special on ABC December 16th.

Amazon customers who had previously purchased the title and attempted to watch it this week were confronted instead with a message reading "Due to our licensing agreements this video is currently not available for purchase or rental."

A spokesperson for Amazon confirmed the move and explained that Disney (as well as most copyright holders) have the ability to pull a title for any reason without notice. Unhappy customers will apparently be given an undefined credit, if requested.
