Shout! Factory TV To Host 'Home Movies' Marathon On Twitch

When you think of cutting edge television animation, the long-shuttered network UPN probably doesn't appear anywhere on your mental list. But that was the original home of a series that continues to have a surprisingly energetic fanbase.

"Home Movies" Was created by Loren Bouchard ("Bob’s Burgers") and Brendon Small ("Metalocalypse"). The animated centered around eight-year-old aspiring filmmaker, Brendon Small, who makes homemade film productions with his friends Melissa Robbins and Jason Penopolis in his spare time. He lives with his divorced mother, Paula and his adopted baby sister, Josie. He develops a skewed father/son-like relationship with his alcoholic, short-tempered soccer coach, John McGuirk.

While it premiered on UPN in 1999, the series only lasted for five episodes before the network pulled it for "low ratings." But the show was picked up by Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, who relaunched it in 2001, where it ran for four seasons. It continues to be a cult favorite with Shout! Factory TV now running reruns of the episodes.

The 19th anniversary of its premiere is on Thursday, April 26 and Shout Factory TV is hosting a three-day marathon of the series on its Twitch channel. The Home Movies Bingefest will include all 52 episodes from the original four-season run. Plus there'll be a full day's worth of bonus content (from the Shout! Factory DVD set), including interviews with series creators Loren Bouchard and Brendon Small as well as episode commentaries with the cast and crew.
