HGTV Orders 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Reboot

HGTV has ordered a reboot of the former ABC series "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." The network also secured the rights to the 100-episode nine season run of the original version, which aired from 2003-2012. 

No other details about the show have been released, including the identity of the host or any of the cast. But according to HGTV, the new version will include "HGTV's own home experts."

"This is a big win for HGTV and we can’t wait to put our stamp on it," said Kathleen Finch, chief lifestyle brands officer, Discovery Inc., the parent company of HGTV, in a statement announcing the deal. "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was must-see viewing for years because it combined moving stories of families and communities with life-changing home renovations. It’s the type of program that taps into every emotion and it’s the reason it was so popular with everyone in America."

The HGTV episodes of "Extreme Makeover: Home Editio"n will be produced by Endemol Shine North America with Sharon Levy and DJ Nurre serving as executive producers. The company also produced the original version of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" for ABC.
