Show Guide: 'Chesapeake Shores'
Synopsis: Season three of the multi-generational family drama “Chesapeake Shores” follows Abby O’Brien (Meghan Ory), a high-powered career woman, divorcee and mother to twin daughters, as she adjusts to life back in her hometown of Chesapeake Shores. Rekindling her romance with Trace (Jesse Metcalfe), her former high school sweetheart, Abby discovers that their relationship will be rocked by not only his newfound fame, but also her responsibility to protect her daughters.
Returning to her hometown also means engaging in the lives and loves of her siblings: Jess (Laci J. Mailey) a free-spirit and owner of a successful bed and breakfast; Bree (Emilie Ullerup), a former playwright who buys a bookstore in Chesapeake Shores who has written a family tell-all; Kevin (Brendan Penny), a soldier adjusting to civilian life, a new career and a newly serious romance; and Connor (Andrew Francis), a lawyer who is finally stepping out of his brother’s shadow. With the support of their uncompromising, highly successful businessman-father, Mick (Treat Williams), their once-estranged mother, Megan (Barbara Niven), and their wise grandmother Nell (Diane Ladd), the O’Briens are a family that must face life’s challenges, but always finds hope in their enduring love toward one another as they navigate life, love, career and romance.

The O’Brien clan unexpectedly reunites in Chesapeake Shores. With patriarch Mick (Treat Williams), his estranged wife Megan (Barbara Niven), their adult children Abby (Meghan Ory), Jess (Laci Mailey), Bree (Emilie Ullerup), Connor (Andrew Francis), Kevin (Brendan Penny) and their beloved Gran, Nell (Diane Ladd) all under one roof again, old wounds and new complications soon surface. Mick realizes he has a chance to reclaim lost time and announces he’s taking the summer off. But as the weekend turns disastrous, he finds it will be more difficult than he imagined to finally get things right. Contemplating trading in her high-powered Wall Street lifestyle for her calmer hometown – and more time with her two daughters – Abby finds unexpected comfort in a renewed connection with her high school sweetheart, Trace (Jesse Metcalfe). But Trace is still hiding the real reason he suddenly gave up his Nashville music dreams to move home and his refusal to open up could lead to an emotional break down. Jess hastily puts together an early grand opening of her bed and breakfast, attempting to prove to her father she doesn’t need his help, while avoiding Megan at every turn. And Nell remains resolute in bringing the family together, even as her health scare seems far from over. Abby’s ex-husband arrives in the midst of their mounting custody feud, leading to an explosive confrontation that leaves a devastated Abby surrounded by her family when she needs them the most.

The peaceful calm of Chesapeake Shores can’t keep the O’Brien family drama at bay. Facing a heated custody battle, Abby (Meghan Ory) announces her decision to move back to her hometown – for good. But to put her daughters first, she sets aside her reignited feelings for Trace (Jesse Metcalfe) and resolves to be just friends. At home, not every O’Brien agrees with Abby’s decision and a combative Connor (Andrew Francis) takes his growing frustration with his family out on the single mom as he helps her prepare for court. As his anger grows, an emotional outburst aimed at Mick (Treat Williams) will force this family to face hard truths. Meanwhile, Bree (Emilie Ullerup) attempts to overcome writer’s block before Mick suggests a solution that could find her spending much more time in Chesapeake Shores. A determined Nell (Diane Ladd) refuses to let her family intervene with her health, while exes Mick and Megan (Barbara Niven) are united by their hopes to mend their relationships with their children, discovering a rekindled bond of their own. Trace is left reeling after another call from his past, and begins to navigate his renewed friendship with Abby, proving he’s still the one who knows her the best.

After receiving word of Kevin’s (Brendan Penny) disappearance, the O’Brien family anxiously awaits news from overseas. With heavy hearts, Mick (Treat Williams) and Abby (Meghan Ory) fly to New York for the custody hearing, as Abby remains cold toward Trace (Jesse Metcalfe), uncertain of where they stand. Preparing for the daunting task of pleading her case in front of the judge – and Wes (Michael Karl Richards) – Abby is surprised by Megan (Barbara Niven) and Connor (Andrew Francis), who arrive at the courthouse to lend their support. Back in Chesapeake Shores, an emotional Nell (Diane Ladd) has her late husband on her mind as she turns to the church for comfort, asking for forgiveness while wondering if a transgression from her past has caught up with her. Trace still refuses to let Leigh (Brittany Willacy) back into his life, or return to Nashville, until an abandoned property gives him a new idea that finds him reconsidering. In need of money to make it work, Trace attempts to negotiate a final duet with Leigh before realizing their romantic past may get in the way of business. And as the O’Briens get the call they’ve been hoping for, Abby promises to do what is best for her girls, before she has the painful realization that her fight is far from over.

1-06 Georgia On My Mind--09/18/2016
A surprising newcomer to Chesapeake Shores will drop a bombshell revelation on the O’Brien family, as Kevin (Brendan Penny) finally returns home to begin his painful recovery. Mick (Treat Williams), Nell (Diane Ladd), Abby (Meghan Ory) and Jess (Laci Mailey) are stunned when beautiful Georgia Eyles (Ali Liebert), a straight-talking ER doctor, arrives at their home, introducing herself as Kevin’s fiancée. They soon learn Georgia has arranged for Kevin to recover in Chesapeake Shores, and she wastes no time taking over as his attentive caretaker. Meanwhile, at the office, Abby is dealt another shock when an investigator from the Department of Justice arrives with questions about possible fraud. As Abby is left anxiously wondering how she’s tied to the case, Bree (Emilie Ullerup) returns home from Chicago carrying a heartbreaking revelation of her own. While Trace (Jesse Metcalfe) considers someday starting over with Abby, he learns the abandoned warehouse property has sold to a surprising new investor. Then, when Megan (Barbara Niven) flies in from New York to be with her son, she is overcome with emotional relief at Kevin’s safe return, despite immediately clashing with Georgia. But Megan can’t help but feel the underlying tension of Georgia’s overbearing presence, and as Georgia forces her to face a cold reality about their mother-son relationship, it seems this whole family still has a lot of healing to do.

Meanwhile, Bree (Emilie Ullerup) is nursing a broken heart after her break-up, but as she leans on Jess (Laci Mailey) for support, an attractive new man could come between them. Feeling the strain of her relationship with Jess, Megan (Barbara Niven) forces Mick (Treat Williams) to revisit the past mistakes that pushed her away, still grappling with the pain as she prepares to head back to New York. But this broken family will rally around Kevin (Brendan Penny) as he grows stronger each day, making Georgia (Ali Liebert) start to regret her first impression. Then, Nell (Diane Ladd), harboring a secret of her own, will remind them that life is too precious to waste when she delivers shocking news that will find her embarking on an unexpected journey. Lastly, with Abby’s help, Trace is able to find his musical voice again, just as a terrifying accident will leave this family’s future more uncertain than ever before.

Meanwhile, Mick (Treat Williams) takes his granddaughters back-to-school shopping while covertly working on a business deal that is bound to cause family conflict. Jess (Laci Mailey) is overwhelmed by both a busy weekend at her bed and breakfast and the news that her long-estranged mother, Megan (Barbara Niven), has returned to town for good. Amidst the joy of a small town celebration, Bree (Emilie Ullerup) must decide if she will move to Chicago to produce her play. As the festival nears, Trace and the O’Briens attempt to put their own challenges aside so four generations of O’Briens—including grandma Nell (Diane Ladd)—can come together for the lantern festival.
