'Karate Kid' And New Reboot 'Cobra Kai' Coming To Movie Theaters For One Night Only

You might have heard that YouTube Red is launching a reboot of the classic "Karate Kid" franchise on May 2nd. Entitled "Cobra Kai," the series will follow characters from the movie, but it is set in 2018.

Ralph Macchio returns as Daniel LaRusso, but these days he 's all grown up and running a successful chain of auto dealers in Southern California. William Zabka returns as Johnny Lawrence, whose life hasn't gone so well since he lost that infamous karate match to Daniel back in the 1980s. He's divorced, bitter and he's just lost his job. But things are about to change for him.

That's part of what you'll see in the new series and Fathom Events is giving fans the opportunity to see both the original "Karate Kid" movie as well as the first two episodes of "Cobra Kai" in movie theaters. "Cobra Kai" will have its world debut at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 24 and will later launch to audiences around the world May 2 on YouTube Red. But movie audiences can see it in nearly 700 cinemas nationwide for one night on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. local time.
