Investigation Discovery To Launch Syndicated Series In Fall 2018

True crime cable network Investigation Discovery makes its first move into the broadcast syndicated television show market this fall, with its new series "True Crime." The shows will be comprised of material that previously aired on one of the cable network's existing programs. The episodes will run an hour and beginning next season, the local stations will be have enough episodes available that they can air two episodes back-to-back.

One reason so many broadcast stations have signed on to the show is due to demographics. Investigation Discovery is the No. 1 cable network in the country among women 25-54 in total day and that is the same demo that is the biggest audience for local television programming. And "True Crime" will be available to the stations on a barter basis. Which means that it won't cost anything for the programs but the show's syndicator will retain some of the ad time in each episode to sell to national advertisers.

The series is already sold in 48 of the country's top 50 markets with more to come. "True Crime" will premiere nationally in September 2018.
