Time Warner Cable Signs Deal To Include Discovery Content On 'TV Everywhere'

Discovery Communications announced on Monday that is has signed a deal with Time Warner Cable that will include "authenticated access to Discovery content in the near future."

It's not clear if the deal will allow authenticated subscribers to watch full episodes of shows from Discovery-owned networks or if TWC will be able to add the shows to its TWC-branded TV viewing app.

In a call with analysts and reporters on October 31st, Discovery CEO David Zaslav said the programmer was close to signing its first carriage deals that included access to multiplatform content. "What will most likely happen, because we're supportive of TV Everywhere, is as we do renewals in the future, if we get the right value, we'll do it," Zaslav said on Discovery's third-quarter earnings call.

According to the two companies, the deal will also allow TWC to offer expanded video-on-demand programming from several Discovery-owned networks, including Discovery Channel, TLC, Animal Planet, Investigation Discovery, Science, Hub Network, Military Channel, Velocity, Discovery Fit & Health and Discovery en Español.
