Madonna's Music Video Premiere On Meerkat Ironically Fails To Go Live

Live streaming app Meerkat nabbed a bit of a coup this week when it won the rights to exclusively premiere the new Madonna video "Ghostown" on Tuesday. Unfortunately, for both the singer and the app, the planned event had to be scrubbed.

Fans signing onto Meerkat in hopes of seeing the 11:00 a.m. video premiere encountered a black screen or the error message above. A source at Meerkat declined to explain the technical problems, but promised the video would premiere on Wednesday.

But fans hoping to see the video have some other options. In an apparent effort to premiere "Ghostown" in as many inaccessible places as possible, the "Ghostown" video will soon premiere on the Jay Z-owned streaming service Tidal. Not coincidentally, Madonna is a shareholder in that service. The video will eventually make its way officially to YouTube at a later date. Although it's likely that fans will be uploading the video long before its official YouTube debut.

This is not the first time the singer has premiered a music video on a social media service. In February, she debuted the video of "Living For Love" on Snapchat's discover tab, as part of that services' efforts to become a media and entertainment destination
