Former Trump Aide Carter Page's Brief But Weird Appearance On 'The Opposition'

If you're familiar with the name Carter Page, it might be for his short-lived stint as a Trump campaign foreign policy adviser. Or for the fact the FBI is convinced he was likely an unwitting asset for Russia. A theory which led to Page being the target of four rounds of FISA-based electronic surveillance in the weeks leading up to the 2016 Presidential election.

But Page is also known as a smirking, goofball loose cannon who loves to go on television. He's given some memorably bizarre interviews to cable news hosts such as Chris Hayes. He seems to be genuinely unconcerned with any possible legal action aimed in his direction and sees genetically incapable of saying "no" to any interview request. Despite the fact that he's been interviewed by multiple Congressional committees as well as Special Counsel Robert Mueller. 

Given all that, I guess it's not surprising Page agreed to make a brief but memorably weird appearance on Thursday night's "The Opposition With Jordan Klepper." After a big build-up, Page showed up and limited to his responses to pre-written answers he awkwardly read off of cue cards. The result was another bizarre television appearance for a guy who is becoming the Andy Kaufman of Russian intelligence stooges.
