Netflix Tests $6.99 Per Month Subscription Rate

Netflix is apparently testing a new, lower subscription rate with some new subscribers.

An unknown number of new members are being offered a $6.99 subscription rate, $1 less than the current $7.99 plan. The difference is that the lower rate is billed as an "individual" plan that only allows the account to watch one screen at a time. The "standard" plan is $7.99 and allows two simultaneous screens, while a "family" plan costs $11.99 per month and offers up to four simultaneous screens to use the account at the same time.

While the company is declined to specifically talk about the test, the lower price doesn't seem to be available to current members.
